5 Displaced Flood Victims Give Birth

Despite the sadness of losing property to the flood, five women now have cause to celebrate. Five women in the Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State who were displaced by the floods have given birth to kids in the midst of the floods. Philomena Ogedu, from Ichala Ayode village in Ibaji Local Government Area, said she delivered inside a boat while being ferried from Ibaji to a relief camp in Idah. The priest in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, who confirmed the development, said four other women had given birth at the relief camp in the hospital. Due to the floods, there have been an onslaught of dangerous animals which make displaced residents fearful for their lives.
